About these listings
The Cape Ann gathers what’s happening in Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Hamilton, Wenham, Ipswich and Beverly (including villages such as Annisquam, Lanesville, Magnolia, Pigeon Cove, South Hamilton, Beverly Farms and Prides Crossing) into one place, along with the restaurants, cafés, bars and breweries in those towns.
Events
Every week we collect event listings from the organizers’ own calendars and from the local chambers, town calendars and tourism sites listed below, and combine them so each event appears once. The events page covers eight weeks from the last update (currently Oct 12 – Dec 7, 2026) and was last updated on Oct 12, 2026.
- We include public, in-person events. Online-only events, business networking, civic and board meetings, religious services and programs held inside public library buildings are left out.
- Each event is labeled with a type, an audience and a setting. Audience labels marked est. are our estimate from the event type and venue; the others come from the listing.
- Prices, times and dates are as the organizer listed them on the update date. They can change, and events can be canceled, so please check the organizer’s page (the “Event page” link) before you go.
- Descriptions are short excerpts; the full details are on the organizer’s site.
Places to eat & drink
Restaurants, cafés, bars, breweries and ice cream shops come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License) and local business directories, and are checked about once a month. Hours, menus and seasonal openings change often, so confirm with the restaurant. We don’t show star ratings; each place links to its Google reviews instead.
Corrections and new listings
Organizing an event? Send it in with the submission form and we’ll add it if it fits. Spotted a mistake, a canceled event, or a place that has closed? Use the “Report a problem” link on the listing (in the expanded row on the events page, on each event’s page and on each place), or write to general@thecapeann.com. Reports are checked against the organizer’s or business’s own page and fixed in the weekly update.
